POCUS

This session on Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) with Dr. Harrison Steins will introduce learners to the practical application of ultrasound in emergency and austere environments. With a background in New York City EMS and large-scale event medical operations, Dr. Steins brings a systems-based and prehospital perspective to ultrasound use in time-sensitive, resource-limited settings. Participants will learn how POCUS can be used to rapidly assess critical conditions, guide clinical decision-making, and enhance patient care when advanced imaging is unavailable. The lecture will highlight core exam techniques, common use cases in emergency and wilderness medicine, and strategies for integrating ultrasound into real-world field scenarios. This talk is ideal for learners interested in emergency medicine, wilderness care, and prehospital medicine, offering a practical foundation for incorporating ultrasound into both urban and remote clinical practice.
